CNY BAKES

 Our son and daughter-in-grace founded their humble pie kitchen in May 2020 and have since enlarged their selection of pies from one to five different flavours. Each distinct in taste and yummy.

In the last mid Autumn festival, September/October they baked Shanghai mooncakes which were very well received.

Now with Chinese New Year just a few weeks away, they have started baking a variety of local favorite cookies. My honey and I are very glad that Brandon and June have found their niche in baking during this trying time. Idle hands like an idle mind are not good. And so it is timely ...and a blessing that they are passionate, persistent and painstakingly perfecting their trade.

ELEVEN YEAR WAIT

Once upon a time I wished it. Finally I am about to live it - the fulfilment of an eleven year dream that had refused to go away! The key to our dream house...surely a tremendous 'gift' by God's grace and perfect timing. Our beautiful current home has served us well for over twenty two years. We loathe to move but our growing family need more space. The old dame has given us plenteous sweet and significant memories to cherish. Time to move on. Onward to our new home with so much to look forward to. Giving thanks with a grateful heart..

PIES...PIES...PIES

 Yummy in my tummy!

June, my daughter-in-law has meanwhile added three more varieties; mushroom pie, curry chicken pie and beef stew pie. These flavors are fast catching on and it's really a matter of taste preference to vote which is better!

CALLING

The garden flourishes with extra care and attention. A well tended plot shows! The same applies to people who blossom under super tender loving care. When nurtured with the right nutrients, plants and trees bear good fruit. People are no different. With check and balance in an environment conducive to proper development and wholeness, there is every likelihood of producing matured, right thinking, kind and compassionate individuals. This require extraordinary effort, energy, patience, relevant skills and even sacrifices from those who fit this role. The task is tremendous and very often disheartening, but the ultimate reward is worthwhile.

Nothing pleases me more than to see smiles ... especially from my children! The joy of empowerment...of realization...of awakening.

We may not always be THE Wind beneath our children's wings but mothers know precisely the time when their young ones need to flap their wings in flight. The moment is now, seize it ...

INFLUENCERS

We are all influencers in some ways. Our words, deeds and conduct affect people around us. We may not have high profile lives or move in exalted society. Our circle of influence may be confined to family, friends, colleagues, associates, acquaintances etc but nevertheless we have impact on possibly hundreds of people who come under our influence. Do not under estimate the power you wield by just 'being.' A worthy influencer recognize this appointment as a prerogative and privilege to be employed and used with utmost care and consideration for the good of others. 

Use this authority well.

GOOD CHARACTER

It is not difficult to like a person with good character. Humility, compassion, courage, loyalty, kindness, tolerance, strength, patience, integrity are some noble attributes we look for in others and which we also want to develop in ourselves.

Perfection is a state we will never attain! Even so, as we labour diligently, know that it is a worthwhile quest to be a person of good character and repute.

CLASS OF '76

Blast from the past! How the years have changed us. Reminiscence. Who would have thought we would be who we are today, more than forty five years ago! Hard to imagine our future were being shaped even way back then ...startling indeed.

In like manner our children and grandchildren who are entrusted to us, are being moulded today for the future to fulfil their destiny. How awesome is that ...

PASSING THROUGH...

This world is not our home. We're just passing through. All the knocks, bumps, bruises and brokenness sustained in this life are stark and subtle reminders that we shouldn't get too comfortable here!

Choose significance over success; peace over pleasure; faith over fate and service above self-importance.
What an exciting and fulfilling life then, even though a pilgrim en route to a finer destination.

ETERNITY

I pray for insight, intelligence, integrity; godly discernment and outstanding wisdom.

A story was told of a woman on her deathbed...semi conscious. Moments before she died, she opened her eyes wide, face contorted and in a clearly audible voice retorted, "You don't know me? You don't know me??" With that she passed on.

Merely relaying this story gives me the chills! Some day, we will all have to give an account of our lives. May we never be found disqualified before the Eternal Throne.
