Lynn Wong's latest book is SMILE though your heart is ACHING. This is a much awaited book, a worthy sequel to her first book "As Time Goes By" published five years ago. Both her books are generally about life and living. They are not autobiographies.

Her first book is centred more on childhood memories and growing up pains based more on events, observations and her responses and reactions to them, with the innocence of a child. Her latest book, however, is about the adult world with its ups and downs.

It is also about fighting corporate battles.

The words she has chosen carry her thoughts succinctly. They are warm and friendly without being pretentious. The topics included in both her books cover a broad spectrum of subjects and events. Some are more hilarious and many are focused on a more serious note.

Her approach to life is spontaneous, governed by prudence and common sense. It appears lighthearted and easy. Being a keen observer, even trifles, will not escape her scrutiny. Her response to these is largely based on common sense and knowledge; laced with wisdom.

Her thoughts flow through smoothly from one idea to another and the transition is gentle, methodical, tidy and logical. Lynn's philosophy appears simple and yet very profound and thoughtful; gracious and tinged with a lot of human skills and understanding.

Her books are very personal and subjective; unique, highly perceptive, intimate and reflective. I have enjoyed reading both her books and excitedly look forward to her next one which I hope will not take too long to come to fruition.

Her artist -illustrator- is equally talented in bringing out the many encounters and experiences of the author through her drawings; depicting expressions, moods and emotions subtly and with precision. Congratulations to both of you for complementing each other perfectly!

The typography and layout is attractive and designed for easy reading. The book is available in major bookstores.

It is priced at RM27.90.

TEMPORARY SEPARATION

When someone you care for very much dies, it helps to imagine that he has migrated to a faraway land ahead of you. Keep the thought that someday you will be reunited and once again relish each other's company. Be hopeful; separation is temporary!
Oh, how tender and sweet that moment of reunion and recognition...
Meanwhile life goes on and we go about our business of ... living... of adding life to our years!

NEW TRICKS

Caring for and spending time with baby Timothy; watching him progress and develop daily are opportunities to learn and refresh precious lessons. He reminds and teaches me patience, gentleness, forgiveness, calmness and always to keep a cool head. In the process he's showing me a different perspective in many areas where I have taken for granted. More importantly, demonstrating an improved way of doing things.
Moving forward with the times!
Who says a kid can't teach an old horse new tricks!!

GET MOVING

God uses ordinary people to do His bidding.
When we hurl questions at Him: "God, what are you doing about this horrific incident?" OR "Why are you taking so long?" We complain, "God, don't you care?" And more desperately, "God, please act now, no more waiting!"

We expect miracles but there're no burning bush experience; no parting of the red sea; no wave of the magic wand! We look to Him for solutions and a quick fix when He's looking at us and saying, "Get moving. What are you waiting for. There's work to be done!"

Learning to recognize his voice - to be his hand, his feet, his mouth, his eyes and his heart. Understanding and appreciating more and more that we are very much a part of the solution...

IT WORKS

Three little words: "Because you prayed"
God can be persuaded to move in your favor.
So powerful; so poignant; so personal.
So accessible prayer is!

TRY LUCK

Children go to great lengths to get attention.
They throw temper tantrums, go on hunger strike, engage in cold wars, threaten to run away and even consider divorcing their parents.

I find that some adults follow the same pattern for instant gratification.Try luck!
Sometimes, the impetuous kid get his way; at other times he is sent to his room with an empty stomach and sore bottom.
Children who are disciplined at an early age, will likely, turn out as more thoughtful, responsible and better adults. They need this kind of 'attention' more than anything else.
Love is tough!

KISS

Usually, it's not the matter or issue that is complex, complicated and confusing. Ironically, people make it so!
A fearful, furious and fertile mind on overdrive can lead to much disputes, disunity and even disaster! Best not to overthink.
Keep it simple and if at all possible; keep it sweet as well ...

INCREDULOUS

I just love the incredulous look on someone's face when given an unexpected gift. The person is visibly moved and I'm glad I listened to the small voice that says, "Go on; go make someone's day..."
A little effort goes a long way.

DIVINE INTERVENTION

I have seen the best and worst in people and am convinced we are no different from one another! Humans are capable of both extraordinary goodness and/or wickedness! However, our stand on the side of good or evil should bother us somewhat because somehow, by some divine intervention, at the end of the day, good always triumph; not to mention that evil never goes unpunished.
Yikes!!

MAKE A WISH

If I have one wish, just one, I would ask for a thousand more !!

URGENT

Important became urgent because very likely, we didn't pay attention when it was important!!

BALANCE

It is commendable to be humble, gentle, kind and cool.  However there's nothing wrong to also be realistic, sharp, strong and steady.
That combination would strike a good balance!

UNSUSPECTING YOU

People lug around burdens of failures, frustrations, fears and fruitless labor. They falter and fall under the tremendous weight.
It's grossly unfortunate and unfair that some of them unload and unleash their fury on unsuspecting you! Certainly not nice to get the full brunt and be at the receiving end of unkind words, unbecoming conduct and uncalled for actions. Such nasty behaviour is no doubt hurting and damaging to your self esteem and general well-being.
At such times, it's helpful to be reminded that the show of anger, animosity and aggression is not about you! Just allow the negative vibes to brush pass and carry on with your life. Let the storm break, wait it out and soon calm will return...

PERSEVERANCE

Had I given up on this lil' fella then, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the fruit now!
So true, it's always too soon to quit. Stay the course even when the going is tough.
Your breakthrough might just be round the bend.

HAWAIIAN NIGHT

Big sister 60th birthday bash --- Hawaiian theme. Spectacular night of grand celebration...

FULL MOON

Baby Timothy made his debut after a month long confinement. That gave us an excuse to celebrate...and we did...with gratitude and thanksgiving!
Happy "full moon" Tim Tim!
