Lynn Wong's latest book is SMILE though your heart is ACHING. This is a much awaited book, a worthy sequel to her first book "As Time Goes By" published five years ago. Both her books are generally about life and living. They are not autobiographies.

Her first book is centred more on childhood memories and growing up pains based more on events, observations and her responses and reactions to them, with the innocence of a child. Her latest book, however, is about the adult world with its ups and downs.

It is also about fighting corporate battles.

The words she has chosen carry her thoughts succinctly. They are warm and friendly without being pretentious. The topics included in both her books cover a broad spectrum of subjects and events. Some are more hilarious and many are focused on a more serious note.

Her approach to life is spontaneous, governed by prudence and common sense. It appears lighthearted and easy. Being a keen observer, even trifles, will not escape her scrutiny. Her response to these is largely based on common sense and knowledge; laced with wisdom.

Her thoughts flow through smoothly from one idea to another and the transition is gentle, methodical, tidy and logical. Lynn's philosophy appears simple and yet very profound and thoughtful; gracious and tinged with a lot of human skills and understanding.

Her books are very personal and subjective; unique, highly perceptive, intimate and reflective. I have enjoyed reading both her books and excitedly look forward to her next one which I hope will not take too long to come to fruition.

Her artist -illustrator- is equally talented in bringing out the many encounters and experiences of the author through her drawings; depicting expressions, moods and emotions subtly and with precision. Congratulations to both of you for complementing each other perfectly!

The typography and layout is attractive and designed for easy reading. The book is available in major bookstores.

It is priced at RM27.90.

A FIRST

The crowd was more than one thousand strong consisting of people from different corporations, industires and every walk of life.
It was a grand gala dinner with many of the ladies dressed up to the nines!

Ten of us were picked out, from a sea of lovely ladies, as the most outstanding.
Frankly, I've done some daring stunts in my lifetime but... sashaying down the runway in 4-inch stiletto looking cool, composed and 'keeping it all together' was certainly a first! Oh for sure the rousing applause and cheeky wolf whistles were encouraging!

It was rather fun and yes, we all finished well just like a pro.
Nope, I didn't win the contest but I certainly won over the apprehension of doing the catwalk...another mountain conquered!  It was in that given one moment in time when I was more than I thought I could be. You did good, girl, you did good...

WISDOM

My mother was a very wise and shrewd woman. She said that in order to maintain harmony, peace, prosperity and unity in the family, the man must be the head of the house!
Honor, respect and affirm him to take the lead.
The woman is to take heart; take pride and joy in being the 'neck' that holds up and directs the head!
Let the man take his rightful position. Harmony, prosperity, peace and unity will abound.
May the year of the rat bring us all of the above in overflowing abundance ...GONG XI GONG XI.

SISTA DEAREST

My elder sister, Ellen...possibly the only person who knows me so well and yet still loves... despite my flaws, failings, follies, fits, frowns and ...fangs! ðŸ˜‚
Happy Sister Day, every day!

ELEGANT

Wouldn't it be nice to have a dining room like that at home ... wishful thinking!

SHEER INDULGENCE

In a moment of euphoria ... more of madness really and sheer indulgence we decided to go for it ...
steamed wild patin (not farm reared) weighed two kilos and cost a whopping RM600.00!

Ordinarily I would say 'lets not' but man, we were in celebration mode and high spirits.
Sure the fish tasted delicious ...freshness in every bite.

A sizeable dent in the pocket but no regrets paying the price for that particular culinary delight.

Some may think it's tooooo expensive but then if we compared it to the Empurau (wang-pu-liao) another type of very expensive fish patin is only so-so in pricing.
My next trip to Sabah, I'll go for wang-pu-liao and let you know if it's worth the price which incidentally is close to three times that of patin. Gulp!!!!!

When restaurants start to have Yee Sang/Loh Hei/Loh Sang on their menu, we'll know it's that auspicious time of year again!
The Chinese New Year is still more than two weeks away but we're already feeling the heightened festivities.

Indeed we're blessed to live in a harmonious multi racial country with diverse cultures, customs and celebrations.
God bless Malaysia and all her rakyat...

TURNAROUND

Personally 2019 was mostly about relationships -- restoring, reconnecting; building, nurturing; binding, bonding and yes, even removing!
It was a year of great turnaround and positive reversal in many areas of my life. God forbid that I should boast but how can I not sing praises of His goodness, grace and faithfulness. My heart rejoices knowing that 2019 was well lived.
In many ways I've experienced the fullness of God's favor. He lives...my Saviour lives.

NEW YEAR, NEW HOPE

"When we please the Lord, even our enemies make friend with us!" Proverbs 16:7 (Contemporary English Version)
I like that. If it worked for Queen Esther, it should work for me/us too! Starts with "pleasing the Lord ..."
Lets adopt the wisdom of King Solomon; believe it, apply it and expect to see breakthroughs, whether they be in relationships, business, health, finance and careers.
God is unchanging and so are his promises.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020

Learn not to sweat the small stuff!
Everything passes ...everything ...the good, the bad; the happy, the sad.

One day - one week - one year from now, you'll wonder what the fuss was all about!
Don't worry, be happy.
Chinese Proverb: "Teen teek lok lei tong pei kum." If the sky should fall, take it as a blanket.

Cheers!

SPLENDID

And so it's true...in the end all we have left are memories.
Cherish those moments that quicken your heart beat and cause your pulse to race excitedly. Silence those that deaden your senses and leave a bitter taste.
Life is short ... lets make it splendid.

KINDNESS

A simple small gesture initiated by kindness, gratitude and thoughtfulness goes a long way in promoting friendship and building bridges to harmonious relationships.
Go ahead... make someone's day!
